More About RUBEN

What do you love about recruiting?

I enjoy the challenge of the search. Once found, candidates can expect I’m going to do the best job I can in presenting them and keeping them informed through the entire process.

I’ve benefitted from each of my previous positions in many ways but none more than having established a strong network of business and working professionals, some of whom I’ve been able help find new employment and others, I’ve been able to draw on in sourcing candidates.

What are you passionate about?

I have a passion for finding and restoring antique toys like pedal cars and tricycles. Here too, I think it has to do with the challenge of the search for correct parts. On one of my projects, it took me four years to find the correct seat for one of my tricycles. Next up will be an attempt to fly a drone.

I’m also a Vietnam Era Army veteran, who served in Korea. I work with a group of veterans who helps other veterans, spouses, and dependent children in their search for information that might help them in their pursuit of disability claims related to herbicide/toxic exposures. I do this because I was in a chemical unit during my tour in Korea and have been fortunate enough to connect with others who served in similar roles. As individuals we all deal with exposure issues. As a group, we have and share information that not everyone has to help those who have a need but don’t know where to begin.

What do you think is unique about Seine in terms of how we work with candidates and clients?

Seine doesn’t just push resumes. We’ve built a reputation as a knowledgeable, resourceful, and responsive business partner, who sources and provides qualified candidates to our clients along with detailed profiles and backstories. Our clients then experience our candidates as more than a name on a sheet of paper.

What did you do before Seine?

I come from a 30-plus-year background in human resources, 20 of which were in energy-generation-related environments including nuclear, gas, oil, hydro, coal, and geothermal. Before joining Seine, I was a human resource business partner with Calpine Corporation. I served the HR business and employee needs of those supporting 19 geothermal generating plants in north-central California. I’m especially proud of having led my professional nuclear HR staff of nine through weekly training exercises resulting in 100% successful, testing and certification as Professional Human Resources Professionals.

I joined Seine in 2015 on my return to Arizona, having survived the devastating “Valley Fire” in California that same year.  That fire leveled much of the community of Middletown, including the 50-unit apartment complex I lived in. Joining Seine gave me an opportunity to continue working in the people business.

Favorite quotes or expressions

“If it was easy, anybody could do it!” – I don’t know who said this originally or where it comes from, but it motivates me.

Favorite movie, TV show, song, band, play, musical, book, sports team, etc.

I think I was born in the wrong era. I like big band music and particularly “In The Mood” by Glenn Miller.
